HBO teamed with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman to produce the series “Big Little Lies” while also created the new it girl squad.
The seven-episode limited series is an adaptation of Australian author Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name. The show, which also stars Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz, in addition to Witherspoon and Kidman, shows the lives of mothers of first-graders in a wealthy Northern California community. The incredible acting shows women dealing with private angst, including adultery, divorce, volatile marriages, sexual assault and the general stresses of motherhood.
Kidman and Witherspoon had wanted to work together on a project and both were sent the book. Kidman says of approaching Witherspoon, “I didn’t have to make this big sales pitch. We were just two women talking. And I just told her we would get it made. And then Reese and I set out on our mission.” Were not surprised this group of talented women joined together to show such strong female figures on TV. But we do need to see more red carpet appearance by this squad.
As we had hopped the cast spent a lot of off time together too. Kravitz, who’s father was once engaged to Kidman, says, “With Reese and Nicole also being producers, they spent a lot of time with us and were very warm and really wanted our opinion.”
